Eastside Community Church exists to glorify God by making disciples who are learning to follow Jesus daily, living the gospel together, and loving our neighbors authentically.

Everything starts with God. He alone is the one who sees this world and each of us accurately. He alone is love and knows what it means to love each and every person He has made.  We believe that who we are is ultimately defined not by what we do or how we perform but by His perfect work on our behalf through the person of Jesus Christ.  This good news of Jesus Christ loves us where we are but never leaves us unchanged.  We are a church who wants to live out these values because of what Jesus has done for us.

Jesus, who was fully God and fully man, began and ended his ministry on earth by calling people to “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” and to “follow me”. These two commands that Jesus gave shape our life together as a people. At Eastside Community Church, we want to turn from worshiping this world and what it says is most valuable (repent) and turn to Jesus as the one who is supremely valuable and worthy of our life (believe).  We also want to simply and practically follow what Jesus taught one day at a time.  We believe that Christianity is not a religion to be tried, but a person to worship and follow.  We are growing each day in learning what it means to worship and follow Jesus, and we welcome you to join us in that process.

(Mark 8:34; Matthew 4:17-20; 28:18-20; John 1:1-18; 21:19; Luke 9:23-25)

We believe that the good news of Jesus is meant to be lived out in community with others, rather than in isolation.  Our great hope is that God’s gospel would form each and every part of our lives and that we would work together with one another so that we do not just know the Gospel or sing the gospel, but actually live out the gospel. The gospel is not merely to get us into heaven, but it also shapes our work days, changes how we tuck our kids in at night, and helps us know what to do on a Friday night.  We believe those who are in Christ are God’s chosen people—His family—set apart to live in such a way that the world would know what He is like. Through faith in Jesus we believe we are children of God and brothers and sisters with one another. As God’s family we commit to care personally for the needs of one another, both physically and spiritually. We disciple, nurture, and hold each other accountable to live the Gospel together. We do this through regularly gathering together for worship and celebration, consistent involvement in discipleship relationships together, and loving others as the Father loved us.

(Matthew 12:46-50; Genesis 12:1–3; John 1:12–13; Romans 12:9–16; 1 John 4:7–21; Acts 2:42-47)

At Eastside, one of the many reasons we worship Jesus, is because He took on human form as the true image of God in our world.  He worked, ate, and lived among the people.  He lived among us in such a way that we could see and experience what God is truly like.  Jesus was filled with and led by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the good news of God with power and bring healing, freedom, and new life to those he served.  Then, after dying on the cross for our sins, the Spirit raised Jesus from the dead.  Jesus promised that same Holy Spirit would give us power to continue the ministry of Jesus in our lives and relationships.  All those who belong to God have the same Spirit and are missionaries sent and empowered by God’s Spirit to proclaim Jesus and show what God is like to those we come in contact with (neighbors).  An important and powerful part of following Jesus is loving our neighbors the way Jesus loved.  We believe that there are good works for us to walk into, and that like Jesus, we have been sent to serve and to love those around us as servants.
